Story

You play as a dwarf, a dwarf in space to be specific. Descendant of mighty dwarf civilization that has self-destructed thousands of years ago. Lost your own planet you are now wandering through the galaxy to find your new home guided by a strange Robot.

Genre

Story driven First Person Shooter with Tower Defense mechanics. Indie game project by solo developer.

The Game

There are 3 character classes to play - Gunner, Engineer and Electrician. Every class has its own unique weapons and skills. You can switch to any class between levels.

There are 3 (I think so) different worlds to play. Each of them with new enemies and secrets.  After completing the campaign a Survival mode is unlocked. You play endless waves, defending your base, on predefined arena from every ACT.

Honest dev notes:

  •  Short FPS inspired by Painkiller and Doom. The initial plan was for Survival mode only game but I got excited to tell a story also.
  • The game is currently in BETA state and you can download it for free. Any feedback, bug report or suggestion will be very much appreciated!
  •  Relatively hard game powered by aggressive heavy metal.
  •  Lowpoly graphics. It ain't much but it's honest work.
  • Realtime cutscenes between levels. Different things might happen during cutscenes I guess.
  • Shooting matters. You don't just shoot, you have to be smart sometimes - headshots, aiming armors, pulling shields or freezing.
  • Locked to 60 FPS (more info later)

VERSIONS:

Since this is considered  BETA there will be new versions with fixes often. Downloading new version WILL NOT erase your current progress in the game.

Hi there, I'm enjoying the demo, and am looking to get this on Steam. One question: can progress made on the demo transfer over, or do I need to start from the beginning? Thanks in advance

This is a very good question. To be honest I'm not sure if you can transfer progress. Probably not - since the Demo and Steam version numbers are different. Let me research it a bit further and contact you later.

Just so you know, I killed 'that one' with ease:

In all seriousness, from what I have played so far (2 levels), this seems like a very well made game, with a few flaws. I have a few suggestions to make:

Make the base health bar easier to see. Either make it larger, or put it somewhere on the player hud. I genuinely did not know the health bar existed until my first death, shortly after the video. Also, compared to the enemies, you feel a bit slow. It is also hard to tell when you are at low health, so some kind of indicator would be useful.

The soundtrack is very unique and memorable, though repetitive. I assume this changes once you are out of the first world. The enemy design is distinct, and the weapons feel very unique and powerful.

I'll write up a more in-depth review after completing the game. But so far, this looks like a very good and engaging game.

Also, the text to speech at the beginning threw me. The references are very fun, it almost makes me wish for a 'For Karl!'.

Thank you lot for playing and reporting back! It means a lot! There is already Base health indicator on the player hud, but I agree it's not that obvious.
There is a perk that increase your move speed and agility but I agree that the character is a bit slower. I'll address that!
Thanks again for the feedback! It's the feedback I was hoping for

In one of the dev notes didn't you say you got to wave 22? I beat wave 220 without cheats or hacks, stage 1, fully upgraded engineer with crazy turrets and extra damage.

Whaaaat :D
Wow...man..good work..I didn't thought this is possible. I have a million questions.

First: I've made an overhaul to the survival balance. It will be progressively harder now, because it wasn't.

Second: Please tell me about the performance over increasing waves count? Did you encounter some spikes while playing or there were spikes only when loading next batch of enemies?

Third: Please share on what machine are you playing this.

Any info would be much appreciated!!

1: That explains a lot. That said, at the start there were some of those weak worm-things, but those eventually disappeared. Somehow I don't think I'll get that far again after the update. Also, I never did quit, I just got bored after playing for literally hundreds of waves, and it was getting very laggy.

2: Yes. There were times both loading enemies (which would sometimes not spawn for a while) and during gameplay that the game would stop responding.

3: Msi gaming laptop with 10th gen core i5 CPU and Nvidia Geforce GTX graphics card. Don't know the exact specs, but I might be able to get them.

EDIT: I just noticed that BETA0.20 is the latest version, so you may want to review that code that makes it progressively harder. Also, with a fully upgraded engineer, I just used the laser sighted crossbow as my main weapon and would whip out the machine gun and/or spam turrets when things got dicey.

Thanks you for the reply! It helps a lot! I've didn't upload the version with progressively harder waves yet (it will be 0.21 I hope). What was the version you've been playing on 0.20? You also noticed correctly that after some waves the small enemies disappear.

I was playing on 0.20. Also, I can't find the secret level, does it have something to do with the hidden parts, or a hidden exit to a level, or is K-bot city supposed to be secret?

Not to spoil anything for someone else but yes it's related to hidden parts :)
Also, K-bot city is not part of the secret.
Will upload new build today or tomorrow, will ping you if you want to try the rebalanced Survival mode again

i have a quesrion my computer is not really made for gaming but I live and I was wondering if there was a way for me to turn down graphics?

Hi,
In the settings there is a slider that will reduce graphics quality, but I would say that a dedicated graphic card is required to run it normally. Would you share on what machine are you testing it?

To be honest I don't think it can run smoothly :( (or even playable). I'm currently working on gathering Minimum and Recommended requirements, so I can give you more info later.

Art and animations are 10/10. I love the intro and story too. The only problem I had with it is how sometimes the tall human like enemies with shields on level 2 just stop moving sometimes. I also was doing the world 2 level 1, 1 star and I was on the 6th wave but the only enemy remaining was just not on the map, so I spent some time looking for them but failed.

Thank you for the kind words! I'm sorry for the caused inconvenience with the 'ghost' enemy...I'm still working over those kind of bugs. Enemies tend to fall of the ground sometimes and I'm working to sort this out now. It's unacceptable and it takes out all the fun when happens. Thank you for reporting this! One more question - on scale 0 to 10 how difficult do you find the game (where 0 is too easy and 10 is unplayable hard)?

awesome game sofar (just finished first level). quick note, it's very choppy when I strafe, is that a known issue? almost like i'm clipping the terrain constantly; lots of bouncing around just strafing

Hi there, thanks for playing! This is interesting, would you mind tell me if you know the FPS that the game is running. It should be capped to 60, the strafe problems were there without cap (above 200-300 fps)

Do you have time to show me this, to capture it on short video for example? Can you tell me on what machine and monitor (frequency) you are running at?

This game looks stunning i will report back after I play :)
